About Us: FUN RIDE GmbH operates the Hopp E-Scooter sharing service across Switzerland. We manage a live fleet of connected, smart e-scooters providing sustainable mobility solutions. Our operations combine advanced IoT, field diagnostics, and real-time fleet optimization.
Role Overview: We are looking for a Specialized Micromobility Fleet Operations & Diagnostics Technician who brings a rare combination of field-operations expertise, which constantly creates new hotspots that increase the use and coverage of the service, especially during station changes, preventive damage diagnostics, and hands-on e-scooter mechanical repair experience in a shared-mobility environment.
This hybrid role requires deep familiarity with shared e-scooter fleet behaviour, in-field repairs, early damage detection, and manual hotspot creation based on rider flow and environmental patterns. It requires experience specifically inside e-scooter sharing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Rebalancing & Hotspot Creation: Perform daily and advanced rebalancing across micro-zones based on demand and heatmaps, local terrain and weather conditions; Maintain the fleet’s battery percentage above 90% daily, maintain the fleet availability above 95%. Independently create, optimise adjust hotspot zones using field observations, operational patterns and observed rider flow. Optimise distribution routes manually without relying exclusively on automated tools, identify and reduce “dead zones” and low-availability areas.
Preventive Damage Diagnostics: Detect early-stage mechanical and structural wear (stem play, deck micro-fractures, brake tension, axle torque loss, vibration anomalies, phone charger vibration for screws failure, fork stress, rear, and front light vibration). Identify damage progression caused by misuse, vandalism, or environmental factors. Document and evaluate repair-prevention opportunities to reduce downtime. Conduct real-time health checks during field operations.
In-Field Mechanical & Electronic Repairs: Conduct mobile repairs on mechanical, electrical, and IoT components without workshop equipment: Diagnose controller, harness and sensor anomalies on-site. Return units to service with minimal downtime.
Train junior team members in micromobility-specific repair and diagnostic processes.
Required Experience: To qualify, candidates must have:
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience inside shared e-scooter fleet environment.
Experience with real-time diagnostics and field-based hotspots creation, using the logic that push this type of service (peak hours, weather, weekdays, weekends, seasons, events) it is extremely important to understand each hotspot. The most important is to understand traffic language when create hotspots to avoid causing obstruction or blockages to the free movement of pedestrian, blind people, disabled people, and/or other vehicles, and above all, not to block the view of traffic to avoid accidents.
Ability to perform in-field mechanical/electronic repairs on shared micromobility vehicles.
Ability to diagnose early-stage structural and mechanical failures unique to shared scooter fleets.
Knowledge on different E scooter models and hardware.
Experience maintaining high fleet uptime and availability KPIs.
Ability to work different shifts including weekends.
Qualifications: Vocational training in a technical field (mechanics, electronics, mechatronics) or equivalent practical experience in shared micromobility operations.
Languages: Good English for internal communication and digital tools.
